+ Project Info
What started as trailside chat transformed into a year-long adventure on the road, creating experiences, community, and culture. I met up with my good "Frend" Jack Mitrani on his quest to chronicle what it takes to put on the Frendly Gathering. A music festival centered around the core idea that "There is no "I" in Frends”, started in 2010 by Jack and Olympic Snowboarder Danny Davis. The Frendly Gathering was in its fifth year and had a strong community formed around the ideals of inclusivity and "Living Frendly". We decided to lean on that community and help it grow through a partnership with Skype. To generate organic interest in Skype’s new group chat feature, we created "The Frendship". A place to record music, showcase storytellers and be the vessel in which we would share experiences while expanding the Frendly community. The project culminated in having created two web series generating over 2.5 Million views, an Airstream converted into a recording studio, an overwhelming success for Skype and a community that grew while we made new "Frends" along the way.
